“Real Housewives of New Jersey” reality television celebrity, Teresa Aprea, has been sued for stealing wages and tips at her Little Italy restaurant, Angelo’s of Mulberry Street. Attorneys for waiters, bartenders, cooks, chefs, bakers, and other employees at the restaurant claim that the restaurant failed to pay overtime compensation and wages for hours worked. The workers claim that the restaurant violated the labor laws by failing to pay them overtime rate of one and one-half times their regular rate of pay for all hours worked in excess of 40 hours per week, and the straight-time for all hours worked during each workweek, as required by the Federal Labor Standard Act and New York Labor Law. They also claim that Aprea failed to reimburse uniform maintenance costs, and to pay spread of hours for each day they worked over 10 hours. The wage lawsuit seeks backpay, liquidated damages, and attorneys’ fees.
